The Doctors Coffee Project

The Doctors Coffee Project

A little clarity goes a long way.

Doctors spend their careers taking care of everyone else. The Doctors Coffee Project is about the rest of your life.

We have one goal: to get busy doctors to sit down, pour a cup of coffee, and spend a little time on their life outside of medicine. Loans, money, contracts, a practice of their own, the next big decision. With one of the people we list, with someone you already trust, or on your own. It doesn't matter who it's with. It matters that it happens.

Topics

Three Things, Over Coffee.

Pick a topic and we'll give you three things worth knowing. Short enough to read between patients, and a good place to start. The first topics are on their way.

  • Coming first

    Student loans

Repayment plans, forgiveness, refinancing, and how your next job changes the math.

However you do it, the point is that you do it.

  • On your ownEvery topic points to free, reliable places to learn more, so you can work through it yourself.
  • With someone you trustAlready have an advisor, CPA, or attorney? Bring them the three things and your questions. A good one will be glad you did.
  • Over coffee with someone we listEach topic will introduce a few people who know it well and work with doctors regularly.

Our one rule for who we list. Every person listed offers at least two complimentary one-on-one education meetings on their topic, and no one pays to be listed. You should be able to learn before you decide anything.

Why it exists

Patients, families, residents, the next shift. Somewhere along the way, your own questions get pushed to later.

There's always something more urgent, and a lot of it is harder to sort out than it should be. So the student loan question waits. The retirement account waits. The feeling that you should probably look at all this someday just sits there.

We're not trying to be the answer to every question. We just want to make it a little easier to start. Sometimes all it takes is an hour and a cup of coffee.

The coaster

So, what's with the coaster?

We started making personalized coasters for doctors as a simple reminder: make a little time for yourself and the conversations you've been meaning to have.

No catch. No obligation. Just something made for you, and hopefully something you'll actually use. It sits under your coffee every morning and quietly does its job.
